Synthetic marijuana, also known as K2 or Spice, is a dangerous drug to try. Many medical professionals and Emergency Rooms around the country have seen increasing numbers of patients who have had adverse effects or even life threatening complications that were caused by the use of one of the many synthetic marijuana products. True marijuana is a plant that grows naturally that contains THC and many other compounds. Synthetic marijuana is plant material, not from marijuana plants, which have been sprayed with harmful chemicals and dangerous substances. Many view K2 and Spice as a way to beat drug tests and still get high, but some users may get far more than they bargained for. There have been cases of teens who had to be put into a medically induced coma due to the organ damage that synthetic marijuana use caused or contributed to.
Spice, K2, and other synthetic marijuana products are illegal in many states and also under federal law, however the manufacturers of these products get away with selling them because these items are labeled as bath salts or herbal forms of incense. Many party stores today still carry versions of synthetic marijuana on the shelves and yet they are not in violation of the law because these products are clearly marked not intended for human consumption. The only similarity between real marijuana and products like Spice or K2 is that they both activate the same specific brain receptors and they both contain some type of plant material that is lit and inhaled.
